Software Systems
Observatory Sciences specialises in developing software for control systems used in the operation of major astronomical facilities and high-energy physics projects.
After careful study of the individual requirements of a project, we employ the most appropriate - often leading-edge - technologies to design, implement, deliver and commission innovative software solutions. We do not impose our solutions, instead we work with our clients, adopting and, where possible, improving their standards and procedures.
With core expertise in control systems software and programming, our skills includes the development of instrument and equipment control software and data acquisition systems. We can take full responsibility for developing new device drivers and software interfaces as well as networking hardware and software.
Our areas of specific software expertise include:
Packages: NI LabVIEW,
EPICS,
TPOINT,
ESO VLT Common Software
Middleware: Ice,
DDS (Data Distribution Service), CORBA
Operating Systems: Linux, Solaris,
VxWorks,
Windows
Languages: C, C++, Java, Python and Tcl/Tk
